2020 was a pretty rough year. The world was fighting a pandemic and we were all stuck inside our homes, with pretty much nothing to do. A lot of people were excited about the upcoming games of 2020. And most of us found our homes in those games. upcoming games
2020 was a year that had some highs and lows for gamers as well as for gaming companies.
We got to play a lot of different genre games. We got Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which impressed a lot of people with its action-packed story based on Norse Mythology.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was a new addition to the COD series, and it didn’t let us down. The game had really engaging and intense gameplay that keeps your adrenaline rushing throughout the game.
And my personal favorite, Ghost Of Tsushima. It has one of the best Graphics that I’ve ever seen in a game. The story, characters, and battle were also strong points of the game.
While we got a lot of good games, some highly anticipated, big-budget games like Cyberpunk turned out to be a little disappointing.
It was a rough year. But 2021 is here, and here’s the list of the most anticipated upcoming games of this year.
1 – God of war Ragnarok
God of war is considered to be one of the best game series ever. In 2018, Santa Monica released a soft reboot of God of war, and told the story of Kratos with a new perspective, and showed him in a never seen before avatar. The game received praise for its combat, characterization, gameplay, and voice acting.
They announced a sequel to that game. So, we’ll see Kratos and his son Atreus back in action. Given that Ragnarok is a story that has characters like Odin, Thor, and Loki. It’s gonna be really fun to see them interact and, umm… fight to the death, in this upcoming games.
We are most likely to get this game in 2021.
2 – Far Cry 6
Far Cry series has one of the best villains’s ever, hands down. And, they tend to keep it like that. Giancarlo Esposito is playing the antagonist in this upcoming games. If you have watched Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian, you already know what an amazing actor he is and how bad-ass he looks while playing bad characters.
It’s an open-world action-adventure game that focuses on fighting and exploration in exotic locations. Far Cry 6 is loosely based on the history of Cuba and is set during a political revolution.
The official date of release is not out yet, but we’ll definitely get this game in 2021.
The game will be available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox series X/S, Stadia, and PC.
3 – Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Zero Dawn was released in 2017. It won the hearts of gamers and critiques. They fell in love with Aloy, her post-dystopian society, and mechanical dinosaurs.
It’s releasing on both PS4 and PS5. Set after the events of Zero Dawn, in this upcoming game/sequel we’ll follow the journey of Aloy to find the truth about machines, what events led machines to rule the world, and how to stop them once and for all.
Zero Dawn was praised for its open world, combat, and gameplay, we are excited to continue our journey with Aloy in the forbidden west.
4- Gotham Knights
Most of you will agree that DC is kinda struggling with their movies, but they definitely know how to make awesome games.
Gotham Knight will tell the story of Nightwing, Red hood, Robin, and Batgirl. They have to band together to keep Gotham safe after the death of Batman and continue his legacy in this upcoming games. The trailer of the game shows the combat style and weapons used by each one of them. And it looks really really BADASS.
It’s going to be an open-world game where you’ll get to fight classic batman villains like Mr. Freeze and Court of Owls.
The game is to release on Microsoft Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
5 –Resident Evil Village
To all my horror genre lovers. One of the best horror game series is back with another addition to their series. Resident Evil village is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard which was released in 2017. It’s gonna be a tenth addition to the series.
Developers have confirmed that this game is going to be bigger than its predecessor, and scarier.
The game is scheduled to release on May 7 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series XIS, and PC.
6 – Back 4 Blood
This is another horror genre game that we are getting this year. We can say that it’s an unofficial addition to Left for dead. As the creators of both the games are the same and the gameplay of both games also looks kinda similar.
The game was announced at The game awards 2020 and is coming almost a decade after the Turtle Rock studio split from the valve. Valve still holds rights to the franchise.
The game looks fun and is delivering the 4 player co-op against zombies and the early reactions of the game are also positive.
The game will be available from 22 June for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox series X/S and PC.
7 – Deathloop
The trailer of this upcoming game looks like it’s directed by Quentin Tarantino. And the background music gives it a James Bond vibe.
Arkane studio, which is known for the Dishonored series is changing its IP with this upcoming game. The game focuses on an assassin(That’s you), who is stuck in a time loop and has to take down eight targets in order to get out of the loop before the loop resets.
But here is a twist, there is another assassin who is hunting you while you are out there hunting your targets. NIIICEEE…!!!
The premise of the game looks interesting. You will definitely see some abilities and combat style in this game inspired by the Dishonored series.
The game will release on May 21, 2020, for PS5 and Windows.
8 – Ratchet and Clank Rift apart
Ratchet and Clank is one of Sony’s longest-running series, mixing exemplary 3D platforming with a variety of wild and wacky weaponry. It additionally fills in as a decent piece of assortment in the PlayStation portfolio, supplementing dark and genuine games like The Last of Us and God of War with the soul of a Saturday morning animation.
It’s the ideal time for Insomniac Games’ Lombax and his robot ally to hop once again into the PlayStation spotlight. Like past Ratchet games, you can anticipate that this one should be brimming with third-individual platforming and an enormous arms stockpile of firearms, devices, and weapons for you to attempt.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will be released at some point in 2021 for the PlayStation 5.
9 – Kena: Bridge of Spirits
This game has such a beautiful visual style, It will make you think that’s it’s a Disney or Pixar movie.
Created by Ember Labs, the game focuses on a young female explorer, Kena, and her cute little side-kick known as “the Rot”. Kena uses her magical power to move deceased people from the physical world to the spirit world.
Together, Kena and The Rot will go on the journey to uncover the truth and help spirits to move to the spirit world.
The game will be released on August 24, 2021, and will be available for PS4, PS5, and Windows.
10 –Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Lord of the Rings fans are getting treated with a new game this year, that will focus on Gollum. The game will tell the portions of his story that we haven’t been introduced to yet. With a character like Gollum as the protagonist, we’ll definitely get to see the ability and skills like secrecy, readiness, crafty, endurance, climbing, jumping, and hooking.
Gollum will also be able to kill targets in a very “careless and wicked” manner.
But hands down, the most fascinating feature of the game is going to be the decision-making. As the decision made by the player will directly influence Gollum’s personality as he struggles between both his personalities: Smeagol and Gollum.
